Slaughter and May is a leading international law firm, recognised for exceptional legal service and commitment to clients. The firm is a trusted adviser to some of the largest companies in the world, advising on high-profile and complex transactions, and has leading practitioners across a wide range of practice areas. Slaughter and May’s Solicitor Apprenticeship Programme is for bright and motivated school leavers who are ready to kick start their career in commercial law, and will offer you the breadth of experience and training needed to become a multi-specialist lawyer, equipped to advise on a broad range of legal matters. During the first four years, Slaughter and May’s solicitor apprentices rotate annually through a range of practice areas, allowing them to gain a wealth of knowledge and experience whilst studying one day per week at BPP University towards their undergraduate law degree. Towards the latter part of the programme, they join the trainee solicitor rotations, moving to a new practice area every three-six months. They also continue to attend BPP University to study for their degree and then the SQE. Throughout the duration of the programme, each apprentice has a dedicated supervisor for each of the rotations, who works with them and BPP on setting goals and giving them exposure to a range of tasks, work and areas of law. All of Slaughter and May’s apprentices are an important part of the team straightaway - responsibilities and tasks will vary, but they are actively involved in the work their supervisor and group are handling from the start. Supervisors change at seat rotation, meaning apprentices benefit from working with a wide range of colleagues from across the firm, enhancing their multi-specialist development.
