Network Rail owns, operates, maintains and develops the railway infrastructure in England, Scotland and Wales, connecting people and goods with where they need to be. That’s 20,000 miles of track, 30,000 bridges, tunnels and viaducts and thousands of signals, level crossings and stations. Network Rail’s Level 6 apprenticeships offer degree-level pathways into important careers in rail. Designed for ambitious individuals who want to earn while they learn, these programmes combine paid, practical experience with part-time university study, giving apprentices the chance to build their skills while working on real projects that help keep Britain moving. Apprenticeships are available across Civil Engineering, Rail and Rail Systems Engineering – Signalling, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Digital and Technology Solutions, and Project Management. Each programme gives motivated, curious and organised apprentices the chance to develop specialist knowledge in their chosen field while gaining a recognised degree qualification. Engineering apprentices can expect to support the renewal, maintenance and development of the rail network, gaining hands-on experience in areas such as infrastructure, signalling, safety-critical systems, asset management and project delivery. The Digital and Technology Solutions apprenticeship is ideal for those interested in IT, telecommunications, data, cyber security and business systems, while the Project Management route focuses on planning, governance, stakeholder management and delivering projects to time, cost and quality. With structured training, academic study and real responsibility from the start, Network Rail’s apprenticeships provide a strong platform for long-term career progression in an industry that matters to millions of people every day.
